Pacifica begins construction on the LAUSD Central Region Glassell Park Project
The Los Angeles Unified School District intends to build a new early education center on District-owned land adjacent to Glassell Park ES. Early education center facilities will include classrooms, food preparation area, administration, and playfields. This project will be designed for joint use between the early education center, a 50-unit affordable housing component, and an underground parking structure which will also include parking spaces for the existing Glassell Park ES. A joint use agreement is proposed with Abode Communities (formerly the Los Angeles Community Design Center) to share parking and a multi-purpose room to be built within the affordable housing component. This $22 Million School is scheduled for student occupancy in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Pacifica Completes the City of Industry Recycled Water Project
Pacifica Services provided Construction Management and Inspection Services for this recycled water pipeline installation, in support of Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District’s master plan for improving efficiency of water use throughout the San Gabriel Valley. This installation includes 12,692 ft of ductile iron pipeline enhanced by a state of the art corrosion protection system, plus 8,862 ft of PVC pipeline, all with associated appurtenances, for service of recycled water to schools, golf courses, municipal parks and parkways, and other irrigation and industrial needs in the city of West Covina. Pacifica is on-site daily to insure that the Contractor completes the work per the Bid Set Drawings and Specifications, and complies with the State of California’s construction safety protocols.

Pacifica Completes the New Open World Academy and UCLA Community College in down town Los Angeles
Pacifica is proud to present the New Open World Academy and UCLA Community School at Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools former Ambassador Hotel site. The project houses 50 Kindergarten through 5th Grade classrooms, Library, Multipurpose room, Food Services Kitchen, Administrative offices, 1 acre playground, and 2.4 acre play deck above a central plant and 320 stall parking garage. The Kindergarten through 5th grade schools occupies approximately 6 acres with 95,500 square feet of the 23 acre site. This phase of construction included a central plant and 320 stall parking lot to support additional schools planned for the site. The total Construction Cost was approximately $83 million. The project was completed for school opening in September 2009.

Pacifica manages Award Winning Project at Los Angeles Harbor College
Under the management of Pacifica Services, M. B. Herzog Electric has been awarded this year’s NECA Electrical Excellence Award for the Los Angeles Harbor College Photovoltaic Project (2.137 MW). The National Electrical Contractors Association developed the Electrical Excellence Award program to recognize excellence in electrical installation and the NECA contractors and associated teams responsible for these outstanding achievements. Pacifica is proud to team up with contractors like Herzog Electric who share the same dedication to excellence.

Pacifica completes management of new practice gym at El Rancho HS in Pico Rivera, CA
Pacifica is proud to present the Raul P. Salcido Memorial Gymnasium at El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera, CA. The Practice Gymnasium is the largest new construction project completed within El Rancho Unified School District in 40 years. The building consists of basketball courts, volleyball courts, a wrestling room, and offices for staff. The site is approximately 2 acres; the gross building area is 23,000 square feet. The gymnasium was designed to seat approximately 400 individuals for sporting events. The total Construction Cost was approximately $7 million.

Los Angeles Harbor College – Photovoltaic Carport 2.137 MW
Pacifica has completed the management of the design and construction of another Los Angeles Community College Renewable Energy Project. The LAHC Photovoltaic Carport Project is located at 1111 Figueroa Place, Wilmington, CA. This project consists of a 187,720 square feet of carport structure with 7,124 solar panels totaling 2.137 MW of electricity generation. The project will allow LAHC to be grid neutral, and offset 2500 metric tons of green house emissions annually. Total PV Construction cost $26 million.

LACCD is Committed to Renewable Energy
Pacifica Services, Inc. was awarded a contract by the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees to assist the nine college campuses in achieving its Energy Independence and Carbon Neutral Campuses. LACCD has committed to a nine megawatt solar energy plan which calls for the installation of enough photovoltaic panels on site at each of its nine community college campuses to produce at least one megawatt of electricity, enough to meet all daytime electricity needs.

Pacifica Managing Central L.A.’s New Learning Center
Central Los Angeles New Learning Center No. 1 is located at 3400 Wilshire Boulevard, site of the former Ambassador Hotel. The project consists of a K-3rd elementary, a 4-8th grade middle school, and a 9-12th high school, with each school having its own entrance. The site is approximately 23.77 acres; the gross building area is 558,601 square feet. The project is designed to accommodate 4,240 K-12 seats based on a two-semester calendar. Total Construction Cost is approximately $500 million.
